Dear Class of 2028 and incoming transfer students, 
The countdown is officially on! We鈥痗an鈥檛 wait鈥痶o see you on campus.
Whether you are scheduled to arrive on Thursday, Aug. 29, or Sunday, Sept. 1, please follow the instructions below for moving into your residence hall. (London students, international students, and athletes, please refer to information from your programs.) 鈥�
Rain or shine, it will be a big day with big emotions as we welcome more than 1,000 guests and students to campus. We recommend comfortable shoes, deep breaths, and lots of hugs. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that your entire鈥痵upport community 鈥� FYE, Student Affairs, Campus Safety, Residential Life, coaches, professors, and more 鈥� will be here to support you, and you鈥檙e in鈥痝reat hands.鈥�

step 1: arrive through skidmore's main entrance at 815 north broadway.
Please do not sure the Clinton Street entance.
- Pre-Orientation, Aug. 29
- Off-campus programs: 8:30-10 a.m.
- On-campus programs: 9:30-11:30 a.m.
- General move-in, Sept. 1:

step 2: Follow signs to the Zankel Music Center
At this stop you will:
- Check in 鈥� Students, please be ready to show a government-issued ID (passport, driver鈥檚 license, etc.). Find a list of acceptable documents online.
- Receive important materials and instructions about checking into your residence hall.
- Receive your student ID.鈥�*If you did not submit a photo in advance, you will need to go to the Card Office in Starbuck Center before moving into your residence hall.
Please do not park your car at this stop. If necessary, students may temporarily leave vehicles to hand off materials.
STEP 3: Follow signs to your assigned residence hall
At this stop you will:
- Be directed by one of our move-in volunteers to a designated drop-off zone for your building. There may be a short wait for a space to open.
- Unload your belongings.
- After unloading, please move your car to either West Lot or Palamountain Lot for the remainder of the day. Volunteers will be able to guide you.
- Bring belongings to your room and get settled.
- Meet your Residence Hall Advisor (RA).

- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - South Park Lawn: Complimentary lunch for students, families, and guests鈥�
- Last hugs and goodbyes 馃挌 We recommend saying goodbye after lunch and before students are due to meet with program leaders.
- 12:30 p.m. - Porter Plaza (first floor patio, Case Center): Students in off-campus programs meet with program leaders and depart
- 1 p.m. - Case Center, first floor: Students in on-campus programs meet with program leaders and depart
- 1:30 p.m. - Zankel Music Center: Parent, Family, and Friend Orientation (optional)

3 to 4 p.m. - Scribner House: Parent, Family, and Friend reception with President Conner (optional)

- Last hugs and goodbyes 馃挌 We recommend saying goodbye after lunch and before students are due to meet their Scribner Seminars.
- 1:30 p.m. - Case Walkway: All first-year students meet with their Scribner Seminars for orientation activities
- 1:30 p.m. - Zankel Music Center: Parent, Family, and Friend Orientation (optional)
- 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. - Location TBD (details upon arrival): All transfer students meet for Transfer Student Orientation
- 3 to 4 p.m. - Scribner House: Parent, Family, and Friend reception with President Conner (optional)鈥�

5:30 p.m. - Murray-Aikins Dining Hall: Student dinner and further orientation programming (required for all students)

additional notes and tips
Arrival times:鈥疘t鈥檚鈥痸ery鈥痠mportant that you arrive during the designated time block for your program, which includes not arriving before 8:30 a.m.
Review the campus map: Our 鈥痟ighlights some important areas to be aware of. You may also want to review our comprehensive campus map.
Shopping: We don't recommend planning to shop anywhere off campus on the day that you are scheduled to arrive. If you forgot something, consider curbside pick-up available at Target, Walmart, etc. or having students arrange a time after move-in day.鈥疭upplies are also available at the on the lower level of Case Center. It will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 29 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 1.
Dining: Students with dietary restrictions and/or food allergies, please contact Dining Services.
Saying goodbye: We recommend planning a time for a last hug using the timelines referenced above. In the excitement of the day, it鈥檒l help ensure you don鈥檛 miss the moment to take a photo and honor this special milestone. We also recommend that once you say goodbye, you move forward separately, as orientation is an important time for students to bond with their peers and join the 糖心Vlog community.
Convocation: New Student Convocation will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 3, on South Park Lawn. The processional will begin at 10 a.m. from the Tang Teaching Museum to the tent on Upper South Park. The ceremony will be livestreamed on the 糖心Vlog website.
